JOB DESCRIPTION

• The Flight Coordinator delivers a high standard of customer service, safety and security, contributing to consistent service excellence.
• Jointly responsible with the captain for the safety and operational control of the flight in preparing all details pertaining to the proposed flight, including the nature and duration of the flight, weather conditions, airway routing, fuel requirements, altitudes, general traffic flow and keeps all personnel concerned with the flight.
• Carry out Flight Following responsibilities including use of VHF radio and tracking softwares.
• Ensures Flights are planned and carried out within the allowable flight and duty limits, and valid qualifications for the crew.
• Timely update of Flight and Duty Tracking System (AIMS).
• Authorizes, regulates and controls flights according to GCAA and Company regulations to expedite and ensure Safety of flight.

• Identifies, anticipates, and takes corrective action to minimize actual/potential delays related to scheduling operations, crew legality, and maintenance concerns. o Verifies that all ground handling, deicing, fuel, landing/departure slots, and landing/overfly permits are in order prior to releasing a flight.
• Notifies the proper staff of any delays or conditions that could compromise flight safety.
• In charge of daily flight operations, keeping abreast of all current reports or information on airport conditions and navigation facility abnormalities that could compromise flight safety.

• Examines and assesses potential weather impacts on the flight path based on meteorological data to identify potential flight safety risks and choose the most practical and cost-effective alternate flight path that can be flown safely.

REQUIREMENTS

Ideal Candidate will have:
• Educated to a minimum level of accredited secondary education or equivalent (Associate Degree) College degree with a major in air transportation or meteorology is desirable
• Knowledge of at least one reliable flight dispatch system (SITA; JEPPESEN)
• 5 Years General airline experience or 1 year as a Flight coordinator

Certifications required:
• GCAA or equivalent flight dispatch h certificate.
• Dispatch resource management (DRM)
• Aviat ion Security
• Dangerous goods
• Flight dispatcher recurrent course
• Safety Awareness
• Annual qualification flight
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and in fast-paced environments
• Proficiency in computer systems
